This is my personal blog. It is focused on living life to the full. I write about my passions cooking, food, leadership, family and spirituality. My mission is to help you understand the ins and outs of the hospitality industry, lead your family or team with confidence and trust that God does have the best in mind for you.
My goal is to create relevant content so you can relate to it in your personal life. If my posts help you to better understand your position in life then my work is done.
I post at least once a week, more if I feel inspired. You’ll see I post quite a bit on food and service in the industry. This is one of many passions, FOOD.
I’m a Dominican transplanted to Canada in 1996 soon after I was working. As a young teen I fell in love with the notion of food, cooking, serving and most of all the art behind it. I started to work in the hospitality industry at the age of 16 as a dishwasher in a Chinese restaurant. Since then I’ve had the opportunity to work for some of the best Chef’s in Canada (Culinary Olympic Gold Medalists). Since being a dishwasher I moved up quickly up in the ranks to 1st cook, Chef de Parti, Sous Chef, Exec. Chef to Store Manager. Each step was very challenging and in them I was able to grow in experience, product knowledge and leadership. I was able to obtain a Red seal Certification in Canada.
From 2006 to 2010 My wife and I invested into a delivery company which took me away from the hospitality industry. However, the change proved to be fundamental and critical in my development as a manager. My company was in charged of deliver newspapers to vending machine boxes through out the city of Edmonton, AB. Route planning was new to me and I welcomed it with open arms. We were responsible for 5 routes, 5 drivers, and collections.
Because of a crumbling economy and tough times I found myself coming back into the kitchen. This was not by any means a step backwards but forward since I learned valuable lesson in leadership. At one point I was in-charge of around 50 staff and 5 different departments.
At the age of 31 in 2011 I made a crucial change of careers. I now work for the world leader in sanitation and sustainability I’m in technical sales and marketing position that’s proven to be monumental in my development as a manager and leader.
Blogging is a new venture for me. My hope is to intentionally stay consistent enough to make a difference.
My wife and I have been married for 10 years and are parents to 4 amazing children. 2 boys and 2 girls. For the last 11 years I’ve been a member of the Capital City Church of Christ in where my wife and I have served as Bible Talk-Family Group leaders and Kids Kingdom Program coordinators.
