There’s so much power in remembering, in looking back at moments in our lives that have changed the way we see the world. There are good moments, there are not so good moments. Moments we want to relive and moments we want to forget. Sometimes we look back and wonder where we went wrong and if we ever get a second chance, how would we do it again?
Then there’s moments we will forever hold dear to in our hearts. These moments represent our most deepest fears, our emotions, and our greatest triumphs. Though all these moments are tied to an experience in our live, there’s one that stands out in a Disciple’s life. And dare I say that I speak for a lot of people when I mention that the day we were resolved to live in sin no longer and were baptized for our sins is the most memorable day of our lives.
Wouldn’t you agree?
You see, people are always creating memories. That’s just how we’re wired. Our brain synapses and keeps track of all we have done, whether you remember it or not. And in this lies the problem, as we get older new memories are cataloged in our brains, sometimes casting a shadow on previous memories. Stacking one thought after another and one memory after another until the oldest memories become blurry even sometimes forgotten.
The good news is this: Ephesians 2:11 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (which is done in the body by human hands)— 12 remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
We need to remember who we are!

2. 1 John 3:24 The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.
We need to remember who we are! otherwise we won’t have a clear understanding in the direction we need to go, we want to go or we need to go. Amen!
